The
Fellowship of Baptist Educators sponsors Book-Link, an organization which
collects and ships Bibles and Christian study materials all over the world to
missionaries, national pastors, and school libraries which can use materials in
English. All work is done by volunteers
who collect materials, sort and classify them, fill orders from around the
world, and pack and send the boxes and bags.
In recent years Book-Link has shipped annually more than 86,000 Christian books, tracts, cassette tapes, videos, maps and teaching pictures donated by churches and individuals. Until April of 2007 shipping costs were very reasonable. The total cost for packing supplies and postage ran about $1.40 a pound. After April 2007, while the packaging costs have remained the same, the cost per pound to ship materials has risen dramatically.
